Progress Update 2021

Lots of progress since Columbus Day weekend has been made. As soon as the weather started feeling like spring, we pulled Peapod out of storage and resumed progress. I sanded the sides and Kim and I glued the woody side trim on and fitted the vertical trim piece. I attached the donut spacers that go under the side marker lights to allow enough room to tuck the wiring under the lights. I finished the wiring in the tounge box and bought a deep cycle battery and made cables. Power input to the inside fuse panel goes through a circuit breaker and then there's a main battery disconnect. Everything got a nice wrap of heat shrink tubing for protection.
I applied a couple more coats of epoxy to the exterior and interior of the doors and then started the process of applying the urethane spar varnish to the sides and doors.  There's about ten coats with sanding between most coats. I reinstalled the doors with better screws and then installed all the exterior lights.
We decided to use a pair of rubber Jeep hood type hold downs to secure the lid on the tongue box and they work perfect.
A shelf was made for the right side of the lower galley and I made a face frame with intention of two panel doors with chicken wire inserts to match the upper cabinets. A couple coats of the dark stain and then some epoxy coats and it will match the rest of the woodwork
I made a trip to the DMV to get registration and that turned out to be a smooth transaction. A VIN was issued and I ordered a nice aluminum tag from a Amazon vendor and stamped our number and attached the plate to the frame.
The woodgrain in the sides is just amazing with the spar varnish.
I figured out location for the teardrop '39 Ford style taillights and the licence plate holder and drilled holes and attached to make legal for our trip planned to Cayuga Lake State Park campground June 19th and 20th.
The hatch is not done yet and needs finishing on the inside and more coats of epoxy on the outside before spar varnish finish coats but we really wanted to get everything to a point where we can start taking Peapod on some trips and do the finish work weeknights.
We ordered some accessories.
